1980 – Concerned citizens in the South Fairbanks area began lobbying the Fairbanks City Council for a Community Center.

1985 –  The City completed construction and leased the building to the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Fairbanks (IMAF).

October 2002 – The Center's name was changed from the South Side Community Center to JP Jones Community Development Center.

2007- The center completed an expansion and face lift.

2012- The City deeded the Center to IMAF.

November 2013 - Operating board hires Executive Director.
